The Belial was venting coolant. Apparently, Alex had pushed it a little too hard, and was now paying the price. While his 'Mech maneuvered frantically, cycling its weapons while it dissipated its heat buildup, I took the opportunity to finally drag my smoldering Hellhound to its feet. Immediately, I drew another bead on the Belial. If its frantic venting was any indication, the 'Mech was seriously overheating.
Another Alpha strike, minus the now-absent autocannon, lanced out from what was left of my Hellhound. Once again, Alex's AMS dispatched the flight of SRMs which burned toward the Belial, but my ER Large Lasers struck home on an ammo storage bin. The overwhelming heat coursing through the 'Mech's body, coupled with the solar-hot focused energy now being brought to bear, was simply too much for the stored Crossbow missiles deep within the Belial's body. An explosion tore through the 'Mech's lower torso, blowing away the bin's outer shell, and damaging an ammo feed line to the left gauss rifle. The BattleMech staggered under the explosion, but quickly recovered.
We had both suffered critical hits.
It was time to finish this.

As I was frantically trying to cool off my 'Mech, the captain fired an Alpha Strike with what was left of his weapons. An explosion rocked the whole 'Mech. It sent waves though my cockpit and shook me like a furious wind. A small cut was spilling blood across my right eye, blurring my vision some.
"Weapon system destroyed. Weapon system destroyed."
The voice blared through my mic. I check the systems. My SRM launcher was out and the Gauss Rifle in the left arm was out. That left me with one Gauss Rifle and my pulse lasers. The staggering blow also put a limp in my 'Mech. This was it.
My 'Mech soon cooled off enough to fire my own Alpha Strike. I fired the remaining Gauss Rifle and held the trigger down for my pulse lasers.

My Hellhound could take no more. As the final Alpha Strike tore into what remained of my 'Mech's armor, warning buzzers screamed throughout the claustrophobic confines of the cockpit.
The fusion reactor was going critical.
Intense, vibrant, simulated flames shot from behind the command couch as the core began to breach. I frantically worked override and cooling systems as I fought to shut the reactor down, but it was far too late. A cascade failure was taking place, and I was in the heart of it. A brilliant blue light began to spill forth from behind me as simulated uncontrolled reactor mass spilled into the cockpit. A deafening roar began, and a wall of pure white energy enveloped me.
Everything went silent.
As the light faded away, I found myself standing on the floor of the simulator before Alex, who had a broad grin on his face.
"Well done! That was a fantastic run. You've once again proven that with the proper tactics and timing, even the slowest 'Mech can take out the fastest and most agile of enemies. Great work."
I snapped a crisp salute.
"You're going to fit in just fine." I smiled.

I saw the captain's 'Mech fail, but then quickly found myself back in the simulator room. I smiled as the captain congradulated me. I returened the salute.
"Thank you sir. It was a pleasure batteling against you."
