Rainbow streaks of light filled the bridge's sweeping heads-up display as the external video feed broadcast the transition to hyperspace. It was an eerie sensation, one that I had never quite grown accutomed to; the sight and knowledge of movement without the usual accompanying sensation. Somehow it seemed...unreal.
Turning toward Captain Gunman, I noticed that he, too, was fixiated on the display.
"Don't get too attached," I smiled, knowing that he was looking forward to the end of our jump just as much as I was. He acknowledged the comment with a laugh, and webegan making our way toward the rear of the bridge.
"Yeoman, I have a small matter to attend to - let me know when we exit hyperspace, would you? I wouldn't want to miss the show."
The yeoman gave a nod, and I turned to exit the bridge. Captain Gunman, a few steps ahead of me, called back to me through the still-open hatchway.
"Captain, Captain Maxwell, Lieutenant Holmes Net is here to see you. Do you want him sent in?"
"Just a minute," I replied, pulling my tight-beam transmitter from its holster and firing off a quick message. "Very well, send him in, Captain."

Jak watched as Lieutenant Holmes Net entered the office of Captain Maxwell. Looks like he's got some bad news, a worried expression filled his face as he straightened his jacket and went in. "Guess i shouldnt be poking my nose into somebody else's business. Man, i wonder where the other guys are, i have to earn some money first if i need to eat." Jak whispered to himself. Anyone could tell what was in his mind as he pulled out a deck of vintage playing cards from his pocket.
Soon Jak found himself at the mech bay. Captain Gunman was just about to leave.
"Morning Sir! Was wondering if you like to join me for a game of cards? We'll need to find two more but its a start."
Captain Gunman frowned a little"I don't know, perharps a little later, i have to get back to the brigde"
"Alright sir, guess i'll have to find the other guys"Jak gave a finally salute and started off to the pink hauptmann."Now thats a colour my sis would love, wonder if the pilot would be there"

Sitting alone in my cabin with the lights turned low. Consentrating on my breathing I wait for the part of every OP which I dread. The warning klaxons sound and I close my eyes. The K-F Drive in the Jumpship rips a hole in space and drags the ship through. The Jumpship now up to 30 light-years away from it previous location returns to normal space. Me on the other hand will take a lot longer to return to normal. TDS will keep me out of commission for about half an hour or so.
Good thing this isn't a double jump.

I'm going to have to backtrack just a touch here, as I signed up kinda late. Please forgive me. ^_^
Victor sat at the controls of his Hauptmann, gently guiding the ninety-five ton behemoth toward the dropship. As he approached, he engaged the communications system.
"Thorin command, this is Castle-4. Requesting permission to come aboard and secure my battlemech.
"Copy Castle-4. Bay door two is opening now. You're cleared for deck two, bay four. Watch your step, and welcome aboard."
"Thank you Thorin command. Castle-4 over and out.
With that, Victor eased the machine in, keeping the kph low to avoid the technicians and personnel scurying underfoot. As he brought the mech up the lift, and into the fourth bay on the second deck, Victor went through the power down sequence. Removing his neurohelmet, he sliped out of his command chair as the final locks came down on his mech. Grabbing his helmet, and swinging his duffel bag over his shoulder, Victor proceeded to exit the mech. As he reached the ground floor, he checked the computer for his berth on the dropship. Once he knew where it was, he headed out to unpack, and prepare for the trip.

A brilliant blast of ultrawhite light exploded out of the abyss, and a leviathan spacecraft slipped gracefully through the center of the maelstrom as the anomoly collapsed back in on itself, vanishing with a rippling effect that some had described as being not unlike the tranquil surface of a pond when one drops a rock into the water.
The jumpship glided effortlessly into a parking orbit around the surface of a desolate, barren rock called Altair. Home of the New South Trading Company, the Combine-dominated world existed in a limbo of sorts, falling just inside the neutral boundaries of Prefecture X, yet still largely controlled by the iron grip of the Kuritans. This had made for some interesting political maneuvering by both ComStar and House Kurita as they struggled to hammer out an uneasy trade agreement, which would allow free passage to merchants from all interested parties, without risk to life or limb in so doing.
The approach to the world was graciously short. Though standard entry was made into the system at a jump point some thirteen days away from orbit, the Combine had negotiated a waiver which allowed a secondary jump point, placed within an hour's reach of the planet, and accessable only to JumpShips carrying cargo destined for the New South Trading Company, Long Life Medical Corporation, and the Kurita Combine Munitions Corporation.
It also, unwittingly, permitted entry to a small DropShip that had no interest in disembarking.
The Arrow's fusion drives powered down as its maneuvering thrusters nudged it into a parking orbit around the tiny world. A myriad of silvery-grey vessels disengaged from the hull of the mighty ship, spiraling downward to the planet's surface and to orbital platforms whose bay doors opened wide to receive them. Simultaneously, a flock of nearly identical vessels began to approach the JumpShip, nestling into jump cradles across its vast hull. This changing of the guard went on for nearly an hour, until at last, the Arrow gave a mighty heave as its fusion drives tore it free from Altair's orbit. Plying its way to the jump point, the behemoth once again summoned forth the awesome power of its Kearny-Fuchida drives, and tore open the fabric of space, stepping across the threshold of hundreds of light-years as it vanished into the cosmos.

As the ship made the jump nausea washed over me and i felt weak and faint. I was sitting in the mess hall with my bushido blade at my side and I did not want to get sick all over the table or the card game Lt. Murphy and me were playing. I saw Cpl. Anzovino off in a corner it looked like he was reading something but i couldn't tell what, and Captain Gunman was talking to Sgt. Eisenfaust at the food line about something too but I couldn't read his lips. Anyway, all the jumping was making me feel dishonorably sick and I just wanted it to go away but I couldn't make it so I did waking meditation and went back to losing at the poker game.

I slowly walked over to the nearby corner and sank down to the floor. I didn't care much for a chair, I'm used to being in a corner. Back on my planet Kilmraethia, my teacher always sent me to the corner of the room for what he called "timeout". It wasn't much timeout for me as I always had something to do. Although no one else knew about it, I would glance into the minds of all the students and especially my teacher. I tried to find the very thing that he was afraid of, the very thing that'll drive him mad. My sense of revenge came only because he isolated me from the rest of the class. He made all the other students resent me and even worse, he made me fell like a freak and not a normal boy. One day, when I was especially mad at him, I sent a dozen imaginary spiders crawling up his legs. Of course everyone thought he was crazy. The spiders were only a figment of his imagination that I have placed in his mind.
I slowly reached inside my pocket for a bible that I was given from a Hladrien-born male named Plokta(PL-OKE-TA). We were good friends, Plokta and I. We traveled several star systems together, in search of a place that we can settle down in. Tragically he was lost in an ambush by the authorities of a nearby planet, about 3 days flight from our position. The planet was called Yelgorn. It was no less than half the size of pluto and it was mainly settled by miners in search of its rich minerals. The government of Yelgorn was notified by the of Kilmraethia who told them their current situation. We were stopped by 2 galactic-class battle cruisers that patrolled the area of space around Yelgorn. We refused to give up as they boarded us. In a desperate attempt to escape, Plokta was gunned down at point-blank range. In his last seconds of life he gave me his cherished bible and told me,
"Remember me and our times together, let this bible be a symbol of our friendship. Use it in times that you need me best.........."
I scanned the room, everyone seemed to be having a good time. Everyone except me, I began to read the delicate content of the Hladrien bible.

Having finished my breif conversation with Sargeant Eisenfaust, I take my food and head over to a table, sitting down I begin to eat the ham sandwhich as I turn on the holovid display and search for something entertaining to show. Finally I decide on a modern day rendition of an old Monty Python comedy show.
Finishing up my sandwhich I lean back in the chair enjoying the show and occassionaly chuckling to myself quietly. Turning and looking about the room I see various crewman and MechWarriors conversing and enjoying themselves, a slight smile spreads across my face as I think of all the potential that's here, a little worried about the OP to come, yet still confident that everyone can pull through. My smile faded though as my gaze rested upon Corporal Anzovino. He was sitting in the corner by himself, and looked less than comfortable, and even more so out of place.
Keying off the Holovid I get up from the chair and begin towards the Corporal, I get interupted by a couple of crewman having a few questions, I quickly answer them and continue towards Corporal Anzovino. Reaching him, I lean up against the wall beside him in a lesuirely way and slide dwon it til Im sitting on the floor as well, turning over to my left I give him a smile and say,
"So what's my best Elemental pilot doing sitting over here in the corner by himself?"

"Captain Maxwell, sir. I have a slight problem. It seems my Raven's leg has gotten slightly damage in launching from base. It may not perform to it's neccessary standards with this damaged leg. Could we have some techs work on it? Oh, and, I am also feeling like I am forgetting something. Perhaps I should have brought some personal equipment?"

I stood at the rear of the bridge with the Lieutenant, and tried to comprehend how one could deploy for a mission without bringing their personal gear along. The Raven's leg wasn't an issue, but the matter of the gear could prove to be a bit tricky.
"Don't worry about the damage to your Raven, Lieutenant. I'll see to it that our techs strip out the leg actuators and replace them from stock. We salvaged a lot of spare parts on our last run, so it shouldn't put a strain on inventory.
"On a more personal note...do you have any personal gear aside from what you're wearing? We can outfit you with field-issue uniforms and toiletries while we're deployed, but I'm afraid any luxury items will have to wait until we've landed on Outreach to turn Isis over to the Kell Hounds."

I stared at the Captain who stared back at me expressionlessly. Should I explain myself, or should I completely avoid the question? The long silence was interupted as another mechwarrior, whose name I do not know yet, spoke to the Captain. It appears to have been about his Mech.
"Sorry sir, but my Mech is in need of repairs."
Captain Gunman gave a slight grin and said,
I'll be right with you in just a minute."
"Yes sir, I understand sir." The mechwarrior looked down at me in disgust and made his way out of the room.
"I'm sorry sir, but I must also go. Can we continue this conversation at another time?"
I had not intention of explaining myself at the present time. The same headache that was experienced during enlistment erupted in my head again. I ran out of the room in haste so that I may reach the safe confinements of my quarters

"I'm sorry sir, but I must also go. Can we continue this conversation at another time?"
I nodded, and went to speak, but the Corporal just quickly got up and ran out of the mess hall holding his hand to the side of his head.
A little confused and very curious about the new Corporal, I got up from the floor and looked around. I then told the MechWarrior to head to the mech bay and have the techs fixed the 'mech as required. I turned and went back to a table and sat down, flipping through the holovid archives looking for something to watch when the comm channel opened in the room.
Captain Gunman, this is Cheif, we need you to come to the mech bay immediately sir, ... there's been a ...... problem...
Getting up quickly, and without even bothering to respond to the comm, I ran out of the room, hollering over at a crewman to tell him Im on my way, I burst out the mess hall doors and sprint down the corriders towards the mech bay.
Umm cheif .... Captain Gunman says he's on the way, and he left in a hell of a hurry

As Lieutenant Holmes Net and I continued our conversation, we walked down the main corridor, descending several staircases as we headed toward the Mess Hall. I suddenly heard the clanging of rapid footsteps on metal grating. Corporal Shea Anzovino came hurtling around the corner, and collided head-on with me, nearly knocking me over as I instinctively grabbed hold of him, partially to stop him and partially to keep my balance. Lieutenant Holmes Net balked as the Corporal fought my grip, and I, too, was baffled.
"Corporal! MechWarrior! What is the matter?!?"
The Corporal tore free of my grip, and kept running.#nosmileys

Hauling my ass down through the corriders my heavy combat boots hammering against the metal grating I pass hallway after hallway, going through one door then the next, descending down the stairs by basically riding the railing, finally bursting into the mech bay, and sprinting the last few steps to where the cheif was standing in front of the Phoenix, coming to a stop and panting heavily for a little while, bent forward with my hands on my thighs, I look up the Cheif and through heavy breathing I ask, "What .... is ....... the matter....... Cheif?"
Suddenly the Cheif's serious expression dropped from his face and he busted up laughing, keeling over and holding his sides as he laughed uncontrollably a few other techs over by the Phoenix also started chuckling and laughing, I look at the Cheif again, having finally caught my own breath I stand upright and glare at him wondering just what in hell is going on.
"Chief, what the hell is the meaning of this? What is going on here?"
Slowly regaining control of himself, the Cheif looked up at me and burst out laughing again, finally a few moments later the Cheif managed to suppress the laughter to the occassional chuckle and he straightened himself up and looked straight at me, all serious looking again, then a smile spread scross his face as he said,"Gotcha!"
Bursting out laughing again, my face turned red with anger for a moment as I looked straight at the Cheif
"You son of a ..." and burst out laughing myself.
"Damn you Cheif, you made me run all the way down here for nothing"
"haha, I couldnt help it Adam, I just couldn't help it ..... err I mean Captain..."

After the jump, Victor walked over to the collection of tables in the dropships mess hall. As he pased Gen, he reached into his jacket, and produced a small bottle. He placed the bottle on the table near Gen, and nodded.
"It's made with some combination of natural ingredients from Pacifica. I don't know the specifics of what's in there, but it works wonders on hyperspace induced nausea. From the color of your skin, I figured you'd might like some."
Gen nodded sheepishly, and took the offered bottle. Taking a pill, he spoke. "Domo."
Victor nodded in accent, and took the bottle back, putting it in his pocket. Finding a suitably comfortable place to sit, he began to eat his meal, the recent jump through hyperspace not bothering him in the slightest.
