I stepped into the tent behind Kintaru. We followed Victor to an enclosed area to wards the back of the tent. Victor said only one could enter at a time. Which didn't bother me, cause I was fine where I was. Only Kintaru could go in. Victor walked away as soon as Kintaru was in the inner room.
I turned away from the enclosed area, slowly running my eyes over the entire area of the tent. I seen Kenichi over in the corner by the tent flap, he must have come in after us. He was talking into a radio. Speaking very quietly, mostly just agreeing with whom ever he was speaking with. I didn't really trust this man, so I walked over to where he was.
"Excuse me, but what are you doing? Whom are you speaking to?"
He just gave me an angry look, walking off over to speak with a tech at a computer. Well there was definitely no love lost between us. He appeared to have the same thoughts about me that I did of him.
I took this time to really look over the incredibly big area. Especially for something you couldn't even see from the outside. There were dozens of computers and communication devices. Many, many people manning them. The tent was a bee hive of activity. It was obvious that these people were controlling the battle raging in the city. It was fascinating to watch.
Standing in the tent watching, suddenly a very short elderly lady, exited the enclosed area Kintaru had gone into. The lady looked to be elderly, but from what I could see, in excellent physical condition. As she emerged, everyone in the room stood up. She surely commanded a lot of respect. Just after her appearance, Kintaru exited the inner area. I didn't know what was happening, but he didn't look happy about it.

"Thanks for coming. We need all the help we can get."
No problem, Bravo 5. I'm just happy to be back in a mech outfit after the FedCom civil war. Name's William Rhodes.
William manuevered the Hellhound into position to form part of the perimeter around NAV Delta. He was feeling quite comfortable at the controls of the Clan mech, enjoying its precision technology. He thought back to his training at the Warrior's Hall of New Syrtis.
Hellhound...called Conjurer by the Clans...especially popular with the Jade Falcons...This Diefenbaker has an usual loadout...more firepower but less armor and no jumpjets...have to be careful at close range. Don't get cocky with the extra guns.
Delta-2 checked his sensor readouts and prepared himself for the next phase of the mission.

I helped form a peremeter around Nav Delta after getting refitted.
"Glad to have you aboard William. I think you will fit in just nicely."
I smiled inside my cockpit. I had a feeling me and William would become quick friends.

We crossed the make shift headquarters and made our way outside. Xiuying Zimming, the Great Elder, continued to walk ten meters before turning to face me. As she turned I finally managed to catch her full face in the moon light. For someone of her age, she appeared to be in excellent physical shape. This must have been due to obvious martial art training and immaculate dieting way of life. She had challenged me to do battle with her. Though she was old, I wasn’t delusional to the possibility that she was a master in hand to hand combat. I knew that Xiuying wouldn’t of challenged me to a trial such as this if she wasn’t confident that she would win. As I exited the tent, Doctor Saturina, Victor and Kenichi stood to watch. I heard Jessica ask one of the two what was going on. However, before I could listen in Xiuying spoke to me.
“I’m surprised to find you here. Your really willing to take your lying ways THIS far?” she said as the old woman turned to face me. Her hands were at her sides, relaxed with no tension in them what so ever.
“I’m going THIS far to prove myself.” I said forcefully as I took my stance.
“Very well. Although I am more than certain of your TRUE intent for the Jade Stone Fortune, I will not end this test with your death. As the Legionnaires have aided us… I shall return the favour by not taking your life.” Xiuying replied, taking a very relaxed martial arts stance. Her left arm was out stretched and her hand was open, the palm facing up. Her thumb was cocked slightly as she put her right arm behind her back. She appeared to be a master of Lotus style, or some form of pacifist variant.
“I don’t plan on losing either…” I replied, clenching my fists. Through my travels in the Inner Sphere, I studied many other forms of martial arts. I knew how to counter her Lotus style… however I still had to keep my wits about me. I knew that right arm wouldn’t stay hidden behind her back for very long. The old woman smile slightly.
“You may now begin…” she said quietly.
We stood still for several seconds, staring each other out. Our eyes locked without fear nor loss of concentration in them. I waited for the perfect time to strike. The echoing explosions in the distance filled the forest with sound and man made sound. I stood waiting… waiting… waiting… A sudden gust of wind signalled me to attack. I lunged forward with my fists flying towards the Great Elder holding nothing back. Without much effort, Xiuying dodged all of my attacks and managed to keep that relaxed Lotus stance. She side stepped to my left. I preformed 360 degree sweep kick in an attempt to knock her to the ground. After hopping over my outstretched leg, the old woman brought down a mighty axe kick, knocking me off balance.
“You fight with so much anger… an emotion thought to be purged from ALL Kintaru?” Xiuying said, smirking to herself. I roared in anger as I span on my back and eventually onto my hands as I brought my legs into a raising windmill kick. She jumped out of my attack radius as I rolled forward to do a hand stand kick to her head. Using my left leg for balance, I attacked with my left leg full force. The elderly woman simply blocked it and brought her fist down upon my crotch. I withered in pain as I fell backwards onto my back, clutching my… area. I was in a state of utter shock, such a LOW fighting technique.
“What’s the matter “Kintaru”? Not expecting such an OBVIOUS attack?” the old woman said laughing. I rolled onto my front and took in some deep breaths. I felt like vomiting. However, I slowly raised myself to my feet. Fine. If she wanted to play dirty… so could I.
"So you still want to play? Very well… prepare yourself “LIAR“!” she roared, charging towards me. Her arms spread open as her hands changed their form.
Tiger Style! I thought to myself as I regained my strength and charged towards her. I met her style with my own head on. We locked horns as we clasped sweaty palms. Xiuying smiled wickedly as her strength matched my own. However, it wasn’t my plan to test her strength. I instantly released my grip, surprising the Great Elder. My hands shot to the sides of her waist as I began to take this fight to a new low. I began to tickle the old witch. At first she didn’t know what was going on. Then she suddenly burst out into a fit of laughter, instantly losing all of her strength. Soon her laughter became insane as continued to tickle her. Xiuying’s breathing became erratic gasps of air, as her lips turned blue. Tears streamed down her aged face as I pinned her to the floor.
“What’s the matter Xuiying? Not expecting THIS form of attack?!” I shouted over the screech’s of hysterical laughter. The Elder tried to wriggle out of my grip, her now weak hands feebly tried to mash my hands into pulp. However, her attempts were in vain.
“WAS you expecting this?!” I said, smirking to myself. This was pay back for the dick punching… Suddenly her expression dropped and twisted like an old wrinkled fist.
“No I wasn’t. Was you expecting this?” she hissed at me as I felt her small feet touch my chest. Xiuying exerted all of her energies into the flats of her feet as she launched me into the air. I was catapulted several meters into the air. She made me believe she was ticklish?! She was truly a master martial arts; she had managed to manipulate me into reading false emotions. A superb act. Before I could collect my thoughts, I noticed the ground rush towards me. I managed to absorb the impact by performing a forward roll. I rushed to my feet just in time to she Xiuying “fly” towards me.
“Behold!” she shouted. “Touch of the Lotus!”
Xiuying stuck her index and middle fingers out on both hands and began furiously “prodding” me from all sorts of directions. Her lightening fast strikes were to fast to counter or block. I took the full force of her attack. Although it looked vicious… it barely hurt. The elderly woman finished her onslaught with an open palm punch that sent me sliding back roughly five meters. Her final blow had knocked the wind out of me, however I could still stand and fight. Xiuying panted furiously as she remained in her finishing open palm stance for several seconds. I broke into a smile.
"That was certainly a perfectly executed attack Great Elder. However, it will take a lot more than that to beat me! I swore I would protect the Jade Stone Fortune! I WILL prove myself to you.” I said taking a step forward. As I finished my speech a thin paisley smile spread across the weary woman’s face.
“Don’t take my attack so lightly "liar"…” she replied, still catching her breath. As I took my second step forward something strange happened. Muscles all over my body twisted and knotted themselves, as if they were cramped. I winched in pain as my left shoulder seized up. Then my entire left arm went numb. I couldn’t move a thing! Then the muscles around my chest tightened up, then my left thigh began to twist into a painful cramp. Other muscles around my bosy seized up until eventually… I couldn’t move. I froze perfectly still knowing that the slightest move would cause intense pain. Amazing… not only was she a master at martial arts… but she was a masterful tactician as well. I knew I was finished.
“Well…” Xiuying said taking in another deep breath. “… It appears that I will be the victor of this match “Liar”. Do you want to give up… or do you want me to finish my attack?”
There was more?!
“… Finish me…” I said, surprising the masterful old woman. She cocked her head to the left.
“What?!” she replied, trying to fathom what I had just said. My heart swelled up with emotion. I had failed to save the Inner Sphere… I had failed to stop Ren.
“What good am I if I cannot prove to you that I AM a Kintaru?! I’ll just… have to find another way of stopping Ren. Quickly… finish your attack. The sooner it’s over, the sooner I can… find another way--” I said, chocking my last words. Xiuying paused for a second, all the anger dripped out of her aged face. Even though she didn’t believe me… I knew that for just one second… she respected me.
“Very well…” she said, taking up a very open stance. “… This final attack will end the match and … you will have failed the Trial of Rights…”
Her respectful expression in her face was quickly washed away she tensed, gathering the enormous amounts of energy that lay dormant in her body. She focused that energy and formed it into her stance as she leaped towards me. Unable to move… I allowed myself to accept the attack.
Suddenly a mighty ball of blue energy crashed into the ground that separated me and Xiuying. The explosion toppled me over, causing my muscles to spasm, shooting pain all over my body. I laid on the ground paralysed and dumb struck. I managed to roll my eyes to my right, the direction the mysterious ball of energy came from. My eyes shot open as my heart filled with shock and horror. A familiar horrendous laugh filled my stinging ears.
"I’m sorry to interrupt your play time children.” said the a man shrouded in a bright blue aura. “However, we need a … chat. Perhaps you could share some of your time “Xiuying Zimming”?”
From out of the passageway that lead to the null sig tent came two figures. One was covered head to toe in a cloak, hiding his face from me. However, it was not him who had filled my heart with absolute terror.
“Allow me to introduce myself. I am General Ren…”

My massive Battle Claw tore into the palatial estate's ferrocrete foundation, sending cracks sprawling across the building's exterior. Huge chunks of plaster, bricks, and mortar fell from the towering walls to smash onto the ground below. The building began to list slightly to one side as its structural integrity became further and further compomised, under the precise, near-surgical strikes directed at its weakest locations by the Legionnaire's advanced targeting computer.
As I delivered a final, crippling punch to the last of the still-standing Corinthian columns, the mansion began to heave and rumble as its internal structure gave way. I took several steps backward, and watched the as the building reduced itself to a smoking pile of dust and rubble. I gave a grim smile, and opened my comm channel.
"Alpha-1 to Castle - all Theater I mission objectives have been completed. The capitol is secure. Req-"
My 'Mech was suddenly rocked by a massive explosion, which seemed to come from beneath, lifting my BattleMech slightly off the ground and throwing it face-first into the earth. As man and machine were slammed into the ground face-first, damage indicators screamed and systems shorted out, filling my cockpit in a wash of sparks. I forced my vision back into focus as the shock of the jarring impact wore off, squinting at my threat indicators. My scopes showed clear, and toggling through the external views failed to reveal anything at all.
I hauled the Legionnaire back to its feet. The process was a large and arduous one, as its leg actuator had been obliterated in the fall, and the 'Mech's rear and side armor had been almost completely shorn away by what appeared to have been an extremely high-yield explosion from within. My controls were sluggish and largely unresponsive, and in my current condition, I knew I wouldn't be in any condition to mount a defense of any sort if I were to be suddenly ambushed.
I patched my comm unit into the Liberty's emergency channel.
"Alpha-1 to Castle - I have suffered a critical malfunction and am requesting backup. Are any assets currently available?"
The roar of static met my ears. I hoped that my message had been received...

The small elderly lady kept walking a distance away from the tent, Kintaru followed her. After reaching a certain spot she turned and faced Kintaru. Then both took fighting stances. I looked up at Victor and whispered.
"What's going on Victor. What are they doing?"
Kintaru challenged the Great Elder to a trail of rights. It will be a battle between Kintaru and the Great Elder. It must be a battle of strength.
"WHAT!!! IS HE CRAZY!!!! He is going to fght that little old lady? Has he lost his mind?"
Doctor ..... do not let her size or her age fool you. In a few moments you will see what I mean. Do not worry. She knows what she is doing.
I just looked at Victor like he had gone insane as well, but I did nothing. I stood to the side as they started their fight.
If I hadn't been watching this battle, I never would have believed it. Victor was right. The Great Elder definitely knew what she was doing. I couldn 't help but laugh a little at some of the stunts the two of them pulled on each other. At the end of the battle though, Kintaru was in bad shape, she had done some wild thing that at first looked harmless, but began to have devastating results on Kintaru.
As we stood there waiting for the end, suddenly a blue ball of energy came from seemingly no where. Then after it appeared, two men appeared also. One was laughing and then spoke.
"I’m sorry to interrupt your play time children. However, we need a … chat. Perhaps you could share some of your time “Xiuying Zimming”? Allow me to introduce myself. I am General Ren…”
Everyone had been stunned by the blue ball entering the area. No one had time to react. So, this was the guy Kintaru had spoken of. There was another man with him as well. He was wearing a full length cloak, so you couldn't tell who it was. We all stood around dumb founded too shocked to react. Things were not looking well.

I continued my approach, and I had my cockpit twisted towards the battle. There was no sign of Thastus's Mad Cat II, and multiple chassis and craters dotted the feild. I re-activated ECM, and walked up the ridge to where the city was. The first block or so that I passed was in terrible shape, and chucks of concrete and ferro-steel sat idily around. I located Alpha-1's IFF signal, and proceeded foreward. I rounded the corner and saw the Crab I had fought that was long defeated siting where it was. I would have to note it as salvage for the techs. In the meantime, I procceded foreward.
"Alpha-1, this is Alpha-3. I am procceeding towards your location. Hang tight, Captain. Something terrible has happened."
I rounded the corner, and saw smoke rise into the sky. I shifted view in time to see an enourmus explosion encover Captain Maxwell's Legionnaire 'mech. I throttled 0% immedatly, and my 'mech jerked foreward, adjusting to the stop.
"Alpha-1! Are you ok?!"
"Alpha-1 to Castle - I have suffered a critical malfunction and am requesting backup. Are any assets currently available?"

"Alph...one...astle...itical malfunction and am req...ackup. Are...sets cur...available?"
The broken transmission was ended abruptly with a roar of static. I leaped from the command chair and hurtled toward MechCommander Wilhelm's station.
"Report!"
Wilhelm's hands flew across his consoles as he projected every readout concerning Captain Maxwell and his BattleMech onto the main screen. Animated wireframes of the Legionnaire, showing various damaged subsystems, accompanied by detailed component and ammunition inventories, and even pulsating EKG readouts of the Captain's heart exploded onto the screen. A satellite map also appeared, with a triangulation indicating the 'Mech's last known location. Where the vidlink to the Legionnaire's cockpit should have been, however, there was only static.
"Sir...I'm not exactly sure what's just happened. One minute, Captain Maxwell was knocking buildings over, and the next, I registered an explosion, and extensive damage to his 'Mech. He's still alive, but a bit shaken. The Legionnaire, on the other hand, is almost totalled. One of its legs is broken, the rear armor is nearly gone, and his comm array and radar have been knocked out. He's basically deaf, blind, and mute at this point. We need to get assets out to him pronto."
"Okay...okay...what assets do we actually have still aboard at this point?"
Wilhelm glanced at his displays.
"We've got two AeroTech fighters, but no pilots, a couple of tanks, and two BattleMechs. Aside from that, all of our other assets are tied up, mostly in Theater II."
"Damnit!"
With the way things were looking in both Theater I and Theater II, deploying tanks was out of the question - they simply wouldn't stand a chance. Without anyone qualified to pilot the AeroTech, our only options were the BattleMechs.
"Do we have any 'Mech jocks left onboard?" I asked, already knowing the answer. Wilhelm consulted his roster.
"Negative, sir. Delta-3 was the last. The only people left are the techs. They know how to move 'Mechs around, but I don't think..."
"Get the two most senior technicians aboard suited up and prepped to deploy to Alpha-1's location. I want them mobile in fifteen minutes."
Wilhelm consulted his displays again, and then looked at me with a mix of surprise and concern in his eyes.
"Sir, getting Crewman Weissman and Crewman Rickmond briefed and suited up can be done, no problem, and we can have the Shadow Hawk prepped and ready in that timeframe, but the LGN-121 is going to have to do a cold start - and that's going to take at least twenty minutes. I'm sorry, but it's the best I can offer."
"Very well. Get it done."

The repair crew on the salvage rig continued to service the battered mechs of Bravo Lance, looking for all the world like high-tech monkeys scurrying over the damaged machines, mending armor plate and reloading ammo hoppers. Aided in the endeavor by the massive power arms of the salvage rig, the crew soon had the mechs in the best shape that could be expected under field conditions.
William kept the Hellhound in the defensive perimeter as his encounter with the infantry platoon hadn't even chipped the paint. After a few minutes, his early warning receiver started chirping.
Bravo Lance, I'm getting a spike from an enemy search radar. Looks like we're going to have company real soon.
Looking at his own radar imager, William picked out an incoming squadron of loyalist VTOLs, flying low and fast across the deck. Behind them, the radar's tracking software picked out a lance of light weight mechs, IFF tagging them as hostile.
Probably a scout lance probing our position.
Heads up Bravos, looks like we've got rotorheads and a scout mech lance inbound on our position.
William checked his weapons and readied for action.

My comm unit continued to hiss, its antenna evidently taken out by the explosion. I still hadn't been able to isolate exactly what it was that had caused the massive reaction, but one thing was clear - I'd been hit bad.
With most of my instruments silenced, and my radar screens rendered completely inoperable, I was reduced to performing visual sweeps of the capitol grounds as my pathetic Legionnaire stood guard near the remnants of the estate. I couldn't identify any targets - friendly or otherwise, and I had no idea if the Liberty, let alone anyone else, had received my message. And so, as two silhouettes began to emerge from the smoke of the battlefield, I steeled myself for impending disaster. I toggled the Legionnaire's public address system, hoping that the pilots of the approaching BattleMechs would be able to hear me.
"Unidentified pilots - this is Captain Benjamin Maxwell, of the Leg-"
Before I could finish, a reply boomed from the external speaker of the Shadow Hawk. The voice was familiar, though in my present state of mind, I wasn't able to immediately place it.
"Captain. This is Technician Weissman - we're on your side. Relax. We're here to make sure you get home in once piece."
A wave of relief washed over me. They were Legionnaires. My call had been heard, after all.
"Thanks for showing up when you did, Technicians. We've got our work cut out for us, and I'm afraid I'm not going to be of much help. As you can see, I'm pretty banged up."
There was a pause, and then the squawk of the Shadow Hawk's PA system as Weissman keyed the mic again.
"That's quite all right, Captain. In fact, it makes our job that much easier."
I began to squeeze my microphone to reply. At that moment, a coherent energy beam lanced out to strike my 'Mech's cockpit, followed immediately by a hail of punishing LRM fire. As my Legionnaire bucked and screamed under the assault, I made the connection...Weissman was the technician I had encountered in the lift! He was turning his guns on me!
"You traitorous son-of-a-bitch!"

Bravo Lance had just finished up our refits when Delta-3's voice broke the air.Bravo Lance, I'm getting a spike from an enemy search radar. Looks like we're going to have company real soon.Threat indicators went off as the new threat charged in.Heads up Bravos, looks like we've got rotorheads and a scout mech lance inbound on our position.Roger that. Bravo Lance, Echelon Left on me. Close to medium-close range and engage at will.
Salvage-1, I suggest you get moving and get the hell outta dodge.Affirmative Bravo-3. Salvage-1 is buggin out.The light lance was 2 Jenners, a Flea and a Hussar. Easy prey for us.
There were also VTOLs flying in hard and fast, and these are what I decided was my first victim. If it flies, it dies...The Jenner's stayed off to the side and fulfilled their role as walking missle boats while the Flea and the Hussar charged headlong to what would become their last act of defiance.
I unloaded my LRMs into a Yellow Jacket and immolated the VTOL before it even got off a single shot.
Delta-3 Alpha struck the Hussar and sent it crashing to the ground as Bravo-5s Belial finished it off.
Just then I received a priority message that send chills down my spine. Alpha-4 reported that Alpha-1 was under attack...by our own!Bravo Lance, finish these dogs and head towards your mission objective! I'm braking off to assist the Captain!
Bravo-4 your in command until I return!I slammed my 55 Ton Bushwacker's throttles to the stops and plowed towards the Captain's position.
At 86.4 Km/h I managed to get to the Captain's position in about 15 minutes. When I arrived, the scene that was painted was not promising.
The Captain's mech was essentailly non-functioning and under assault by two fellow Legionnaires. Neither of which had deployed with us originally. Alpha-4s Raven was beaten up badly from trying to duel with a Shadow Hawk and keep it away from the Captain.Alpha-1, this is Bravo-3. I'm here to assist, please respond over.Bravo-3...this does not concern you. Leave here at once and we won't be force to kill you.Insolent scum! Your mutiny ends here!Fool! Your outnumbered and I have the superior mech!I charged in and fired my jump jets while getting a clear bead on the rear armor of the Shadow Hawk I unloaded an Alpha Strike that bored into the mech's armor as it flung forward as the less than capable pilot struggled to maintain the mech's balance.
As I landed I swung around and fired my ER Large Laser at the Custom Vulture.Don't think we are done Captain! I'll kill your loyal dog and return for you.I was clearly outnumbered and outgunned, but I would prove that I had more skill as a pilot.
The Shadow Hawk, turned and fired at me and punished my mechs center torso and cockpit. I was slammed into the back of my command couch and I returned fire, pummling the mech's right arm and destroying it.
As I entered a circle of death with the Shadow Hawk, the Custom Vulture hit my Left Torso with a punishing barrage of Small Pulse Lasers and 2 ER Medium Lasers.
After exchanging blows with the Shadow Hawk several more times the mech went down after the pilot ejected to safety.
I turned to the Custom Vulture just in time to be pummled with MRMs in the Left Torso. This time LRM ammunition exploded sending shockwaves through my mech and crippled my mech's left arm.
I cried out in pain as blood ran down my face and into my left eye. I wiped it away the best I could and fired off another punishing hail of LRMs into the Custom Vulture.
Charging in I slammed my useless left arm into the mech and fired my jump jets simultaneously to add more power to the blow. The Custom Vulture backpedaled wildly into a nearby building but recovered. Clearly proving that this pilot had more skill than his cohort.
I moved back and fired another Alpha Strike into the Custom Vulture and continued to unload with my machine guns and ER Large Laser.
However, the MRM's and punishing energy weapon array on the mech was putting my mech through it's paces. At this rate I would not be in the fight for much longer.
My next Alpha Strike plowed headlong into the Custom Vulture and detonated a volley of MRMs right next to the traitor's mech. The pilot obviously enraged, charged headlong into my mech and plowed us both into a building.
We both kept firing into one another at point blank ranges and got into a mech sized shoving match as weapon systems failed.
Finally, the Custom Vulture hit me with another powerful Alpha Strike and breached my mechs fusion reactor. However, my last act of defiance was tangling my mech with his.Bravo-3 punching out!I ripped the handle down and felt the rocket motors ignite under me as I was suddenly forced vertically into the air. I could hear my mech exploding and taking out the Custom Vulture with it and I must've been riding the explosion, barely escaping death.
As I reached the clouds, a bolt of lightining struck my ejection pod and shorted out the electrical systems.Noooo! The pod spun wildly and began crashing back to the planet's surface. I felt sick as the pod spun about uncontrollably like an amusement park ride gone horribly wrong.
The pod crashed down, smashing into a building and I could feel the pod shake violently as it went through several floors before comming to a stop. I was thrown from my harness as it buckled and tore under the stress of the crash.
I screamed in pain as my entire left side was partially crushed between the crumpling pod and command console. Blood ran down my face and got into my eyes. I went to reach for my face with my left arm, but a pain shot through my arm and I was unable to move it.
I reached with my right, but could not reach my face. Warm sticky fluid ran down my left leg, and it felt like it was shorter than normal. My right leg was sore and I had trouble moving it.
My mind raced back to the briefing."...captured, tortured and killed."I could hear commotion in Spanish from outside the ejection pod. Loyalist Militia no doubt.
I unholstered my sidearm and blindly aimed it at the source of the noise as I thumbed the safety. Then, I passed out.
When I came to, I was in no better shape than I was in earlier. I still couldn't see, pain was all over and now I had troble breathing. I could hear someone exchanging fire outside the ejection pod. After a few minutes it stopped.
More commotion was around the pod. I again raised my pistol as I heard people trying to breach the ejection pod's hatchway. The whole thing was surreal, I had not idea what was happening and I was scared. For the first time, I was scared. Alone, blind and unaware of my own fate, fear began to take hold.
A light began to wash over my face and I raised my old Colt 1911 .45 ACP Hangun to the source. A calm soothing voice spoke to me and slowly brushed the old gun aside.It's...my...gun... ...don't...lose... The white lights consumed my body and it all went black.[ - Soundtrack - ]

It was time to end this...game. The lance fully repaired, I opened my comm channel.
"Bravo Lance, this is Corporal Nicholas Schuster. Form up on me. Tierra Verde's BattleMech assets have been eliminated. From here on out, we can expect only light infantry and armor assets, as well as automated turrets as we move into the base. Our objectives are to breach the base's walls, and destroy the command buildings within. Aff?"
The lance checked in as they fell into a wedge formation behind me.
We made our way up the base's sloping approach, smashing tanks, support vehicles, and numerous infantry squads. As we approached the base's main gate, a terrific explosion, touched off by the rebels, immolated the retractable wall that stood between us and the vulnerable inner echelons of the base. The wall dropped into the ground, and our lance stomped in, unopposed. Immediately, the command structures came into view, and I unleashed the full fury of my weapons suites into them, as did my lancemates. The structures fell easily, the few automated defenses which attempted to intervene getting easily crushed,
As we made our way to the last building, a transmission cut across our radios from the rebel forces.
"This is Commander Jonathan Redmond, Special Forces leader for The Reach in this theater. We have received intel that Arbiter Jorge Almarez is holed up in the main command structure. Do not fire on the building. A commando team has been dispatched to attempt to take Almarez alive. They will signal their status momentarily.
"Copy that. We will hold fire until you give the word."
My weapons at last on 'safe,' I took a moment to collect myself.

I watched as 2 'mechs fired on the already weak Legionnaire 'mech. Oh no!
What I saw next put me not into a horror or scared state of mind, but a suprised one. It happened in a blur.
I looked onto my radar as Bravo-3 approached. I opened to com, but was interrupted by one of the mechs firing on me.
The 2 'mechs engaged the brave pilot, and after about 2 minutes of figting, I saw an ejection pod and one mech go down. Another few minutes passed and 2 'mechs were consumed in a flashwave of fire, and an ejection pod smoked into the dark night sky. A lick of lightning stuck the pod, and I horrificly watched the pod disappear into a nearby neighborhood.
"BRAVO-3!?!?!?!? DO YOU COPY!?!?! TAYLOR! NO!"
This is Alpha-4, Bravo-3 is down!

With the Jade Falcon Commander dead, their ranks were in disarray and the grand melee ensued, decimating their ranks.
Ghost-3 here. Scratch one Black Hawk.
The battle was winding down. A large explosion went off in the distance and I watched as an ejection pod went up and get struck by lighting and fall from the sky.
Legionnaire radio traffic was in a flurry and I knew it was one of their own. To compound the matter, the Legionnaire commander was reportedly under attack.
This is Ghost-1, breaking off. All units continue fighting, I'm going to protect the Legionnaire Commander. Ghost-3, you're with me.
Ghost-2, you're in command of this battle now.
Understood Ghost-1.
I rounded a corner to see the troublesome pair of Summoners fighting both my units 100-Ton mechs, a Kodiak and Dire Wolf.
They stood little chance as my 85-Ton monster swung and bored 4 ER-PPCs and a a storm of LRMs into the back armor of the lead Summoner and I watched as the gyro disentegrated and sent the mech crashing to the ground.
The other Summoner was consumed by dual Alpha Strikes from the 100-Ton beasts and the pilot ejected where a Summoner shot it from the sky.
The remaining mechs were felled quickly from our concentrated firepower. As the last Jade Falcon mech was reported destroyed, I keyed my comms.
Jade Falcon forces defeated in it's entirety. Requesting all available Dropships to my location for salvage operations.
Affirmative maam. Jade Falcon fleet was defeated along with the Word of Blake dogs. We suffered moderate damage, but we will be alright.
Dropships inbound. ETA - 37 minutes.

Upon hearing that Captain Maxwell was in trouble I decided that his safety was more important than the battle with the Jade Falcons.
I had made a rede to defend Captain Maxwell, someone whom I regarded as a trothkin. A title not often given to freebirths.
This is Ghost-1, breaking off. All units continue fighting, I'm going to protect the Legionnaire Commander. Ghost-3, you're with me.
Ghost-2, you're in command of this battle now.
Understood Ghost-1.
As my 65-Ton Hellbringer and Ghost-3's 85-Ton Marauder IIc closed on Captain Maxwell's position, I saw an unknown mech chassis with Legionniare markings, and a Raptor Light mech standing guard.
I keyed up my PA and assumed that it was Captain Maxwell.
Captain Maxwell, this is Star Captain Killian Bekker. Looks like you could use a little escort.
What's your status?
