Although the 'standard' for MechWarriors charging into the heat of battle in their BattleMech's cockpit is a t-shirt, shorts, and cooling vest, I'm curious as to how everyone envisions their characters 'gearing up' for battle. For example, Ben typically wears his cooling vest under a dark khaki flightsuit, into which are woven plugs for the coolant lines, and a hip holster for a pistol or two, as well as a number of assorted essential gadgets. This allows him to exit his BattleMech and instantly be ready to engage in ground combat, affording him a bit more protection than bare arms and legs would.

A royal blue flightsuit, cooling vest, and a bladed weapon, usually along the lines of a combat knife.

William wears the old-school AFFS Mechwarrior uniform from around 3025. This includes green shorts and cooling vest plus a red mini-cooling shirt worn underneath the main cooling vest. Black boots (with a knife tucked in one of them) and fingerless gloves complete the outfit. He wears his custom Tikonov laser pistol in a holster on the right hip.
Speaking of clothing...do the Legionnaires have a dress uniform? William would definitely wear spurs with any dress uniform as its a Davion tradition.

Thorn wears the old style camo pants with black boots. He wears a holster on the side for a ballistics pistol. A black t-shirt under his cooling vest and then fingerless gloves. He also carries around a combat knife.

Wolf wears his standard green and black combat armour (photo in dossier, minus helmet) which has a built in cooling vest and climate control system (the armour is powered). His MAG-18 combat assault rifle is mounted in a side holster on the chair along the right side, rather in its traditional thigh holster. His cockpit command chair is custom designed to allow him to sit comfortably with his Katana still strapped across his back. His combat armour helmet is attached to the left side of the command chair while he wears his neuro helmet.
Although a little bulky to be wearing in the small confines of a BattleMech cockpit, it allows him to immediately exit his 'mech, willingly or through emergency ejection, and be combat ready for most situations.

Garland, or me I might say, wears old skool cooling vest, shorts, and a gray t-shirt. A neuro-helmet as well. The cooling vest also serves as a bullet proof vest although it still can't take a high-powered rifle bullet at close range. Garland carries with him his blazer laser pistol, double barreled and a combat knife. Also in the cockpit is an emergency satchel which contains survival supplies.
