An old friend has returned from chemotherapy... hello everybody!
On August 28th, the day I was hospitalised, and terror struck New Orleans. Katrina, now it seems as though my city, Houston, is under the scope of a threat. My second chemotherapy begins on the 23rd, I just wanted to stop by to say "hey", but it seems that my chemo will resume in another city... details later.

It's good to hear from you Wedge. Sorry to hear that you are having to experience the chemotherapy scene. Also sorry to hear that things down your way are not good as far as weather goes.
Keep up the good thoughts. We all think about you, and you are in our prayers for sure.

Great to hear from ya, Wedge. I know how difficult chemo can be from watching my mom when she had breast cancer, and I really admire your fortitude and positive attitude. Keep fighting the good fight!

This is going to be a bad expirince. Category 5, and I have to be in Los Angeles. I have to make it out of the city on my own with my parents.
I just wanted to say, that if this is in fact the last time I use my computer, I just want you all to remember who I am, and thank you.
Hurricane Rita is expected to make landfall on Galveston Island at 1 AM Saturday.
A category 5 will DESTROY the island, and 20' Storm Surges will encover the island, there will also be surges from behind the island, where there is no seawall.
I will continue chemo in Los Angeles, and all is on schedule. On Sunday, Chemo resumes. I will be released October 13rd if all goes well.

My family and I attemped to drive to Weimar (1h 30m away) to a friends's house, and from there drive to Austin to take a flight to L.A
A major problem is the roads. Interstate 45, Interstate 10, and all the other minor highways are virtual parking lots due to over 5 million Galveston, Houston and the area residents fleeing from the madness. Both sides of the major roadways (8 lanes each) are heading outbound on I-45. I can tell you one thing: Evacuating +5,000,000 people on 4 roads is HELL. On the television, helicopters depicted 15-20 Miles of backed up traffic.
My family and I traveled 12 Miles, and faced over 1h 30m of sheer traffic. We are planning to wake up at 4 tommorrow, and be the early birds to hop on the I-10 and avoid the deadly storm, and traffic.
Another problem is fuel. As of Tuesday, many people have waited over 2 hours for fuel. We passed a Shell station, turned around to head home after fear of being stopped on the highway due to fuel, passed the Shell station, and the pumps were deserted.
Bad days are upon Houston, and I just wanted to end any confusion about just how bad this problem is. Please pray for my family and I, as we endure another night at home, and risk missing treatment.
Peace, Wedge
