Hey everyone, I just had a few quick questions I was hoping someone could answer.
First off, does anyone know where I can find battletech rules and/or descriptions of Level 3 items in the BT universe? Specifically, how the "supercharger" works on a 'mech in level 3 rules, as well as the official way that the Null Signature system works. There are various level 3 weapons that I was interested in reading about as well, but they aren't that important.
Secondly, does anyone know of a site or something that I can use to translate english words to another language (like japanese) but have it display in english characters, like Aucasa(sp?) means mother (or maybe its father... hopefully you know what I mean though). I tried babelfish (from Altavista.com) but it won't display the japanese words in english characters. Or if someone knows of way that isnt on the internet to do this, I was wondering if they could translate 3 words for me. Invisible, Stealth, and Death.

Google has a couple of Language translation services. I've used them for German to English translations and seem to work OK. I once did a search on Japanese to English translations which came up some good ones. Sorry didn't bookmark any of them.
As for the Equipment try Heavymetal.com
this is from the help file included in their software.
Heavy Lasers – Clan Star Adder developed these awesome weapons, which do tremendous damage while producing very high heat. The down-side (other than the heat) is that the heavy lasers are less accurate than standard lasers, so must use a +1 to-hit modifier for all shots. Coming in Heavy Large, Heavy Medium and Heavy Small Laser sizes, they do 16 (yes 16!), 10 and 6 damage, while producing 18 (yes 18!), 7 and 3 heat. That means the Heavy Small Laser does the same damage as an Inner Sphere Pulse Laser, while the Heavy Medium Laser does as much damage as a Clan Large Laser! Ranges are 5/10/15, 3/6/9 and 1/2/3, so they do have limited range. Masses are 4, 1 and .5, while they occupy 3, 2 and 1 crits accordingly.
Engine Supercharger - This device increases the speed of a 'Mech exactly as with MASC, except that failure of a 2D6 roll requires one roll on the Determining Critical Hits Table. It can be combined with MASC, weighs 10% of the engine's weight, and takes up 1 slot, which must be located in a location on a 'Mech which contains an engine crit.
Null- Signature System - The Null-Sig system makes 'Mechs at harder to hit at medium and long range. At medium range, an extra +1 modifier is given, and at long range, and extra +2 modifier. The system develops 10 heat points any turn it is operating. This system takes up 1 critical slot in each location except the head (7 crits total) a hit on any one of these destroys the system.
hope that helps, if you need more info I can delve into the various rules books that I have for greater details.

Someone else's mother is okasan, my mother is haha. Death is shi, invisible is me ne mienai. Sorry I don't know how to say stealth - that's a bit beyond my Japanese knowledge. I don't think the Japanese have a single word for invisible so the closest I could come up with is not able to be seen by the eye. This is not as awkward in Japanese as it is in English.
On second thought this is a simpler way to say invisible: mienai.
I hope this helps - if you want to know anymore I might be able to help you but I'm not very good at japanese so we'll see. ;D

Gunman, very, very nice mech there.
very much along the lines of some of the customs I was designing for myself. I had something based on the No-Dachi 2KO which I posted in the databank. I dropped the TSM for clan FF armour to max the armour, but this made the sword next to useless so I dropped the design.
funny enough my back story for the purchaser of the clan Gargoyle I am selling off is that they want to build a mech almost identical to yours. I've had this from my first post here.
Did you base your mech off any inspiration ? My back story was inspired by a picture of a customised Hatamoto Chi (Hatano Ryu) that I found on the web.
BTW you didn;t happen to bring any spare heavy lasers (or other clan lasers) with you ?
Also from the back story, I would consider the Hatamoto to be listed as your personal mech, not property of the Legionnaires. It is unlikely that the Kuritan company would have been allowed to sell it outside of the Draconis Combine and there is canon preceedence of prototype mechs being listed as personal property of the pilot doing the field testing. You are of course not allowed to tell anyone where you got it from.

Thank you very much for that info Morgan, that was exactly what I was looking for, I knew about the Heavy Laser info already, but the supercharger and null sig was perfect , my Null Sig system is a little different from the canon version (picture MA/MA2 on the Xbox style Null Sig) but I figured it would be alright to vary a bit from Canon in that sense, I wouldn't abuse it though, not like I would be the invisible killer firing heavy lasers left and right while staying invisible, that much heat would make me show up like a volcano on a Sat Nav image, lol. Thanks for the info on the Japanese words Garland, I was wondering what they were for use in a name for my 'mech. I was thinking of calling it Invisible Death, or just Stealth, depending on how the words looked and sounded. Thorn, if you could translate invisible, death, and Stealth into german for me, that would be great, I like using names that are in another language, they just sound and look cooler to me. Thank you again Morgan, this time for the compliments . I agree that according to the backstory the Hatamoto should be listed as my personal 'mech, and in order to keep with canon and little more I think I will make it my personal 'mech, and leave the Vulture mentioned in another thread as Legionnaire property currently assigned as a secondary 'mech to myself. My inspiration for the creation of this 'mech is a little strange really. I had originally designed an entirely brand new 'mech with no relation to any previous 'mech. I searched through the ChaosMarch files until I found a semi-simaliar 'mech (not really but it was the closest possible). The 'mech was based off of a Steel Battalion designed VT. That idea was a little too far fetched though so I dropped it. Then I created a Phalanx version of the BattleMaster, began to lay out a little fluff for it and realized I had already created it back in OP2 with the BattleMaster BLR-L2, not wanting to repeat myself, and wondering if the shield mod instead of a physical weapon was a little much, I began looking for a 'mech again. I wanted something humanoid looking (like the BattleMaster), and either a top end Heavy or Low to medium Assault (70-90 tons). I came across the Pheonix Hawk IIC and the Hatamoto, Pheonix Hawk was too difficult to write a reasonable fluff for acquiring and testing it, so I designed the Hatamoto. The original Steel Battalion based design was to be made on New Samarkand by the Draconis Combine, and the Hatamoto was a pre-existing design in the DCMS so it made things very easy and believable. The actual loadout design came from wanting to design the fastest possible Assault 'mech, weapons were the last thing I laid out, the actual design flow followed the fluff I wrote almost exactly, I wanted it to have high stealth abilities, but stealth armour, in my mind, whether its canon or not, would be a rather fragile armour since its designed mostly against being detected rather than stopping an impact. So that left me with the Null Sig system. Also Kurita's ties to Clan Nova Cat allowed easier access to Clan weapons. Anyways thats enough rambling about how I came to the design, lol. As far as bringing spares hehe, the joy about how I wrote my return, with the covered supply trucks, we can stick whatever you want in there. There are definately some extra heat sinks, and a sword for the formal/parade variant of the Hatamoto, but the rest of that truck, plus the other truck can be whatever you want. I'd say each truck carries 15 tons, that leaves around 21 tons (4 tons of heat sinks, 5 tons of sword) of whatever Clan stuff you want.

This was my inspiration for a similar design. I found the picture on the web somewhere. Not my design or painting. But a very nice mech. Stats for it were ER PPC (LA) 4x Medium Pulse Lasers, 2 Medium Lasers, ECM, TSM, 5/8/0

The name for the above mech is Hatano Ryu.

Found the original posting for this mech on Lords of the Battlefield site.
Hatano Ryu is Banner of the Dragon.
I knew Ryu was dragon from the Kuritan Mechs in MW:DA that have Ryu in the name.
cheers.

I have an affection for the Shiro. 4x LRM-10, an Ultra A/C, and a sword. What else could you possibly need?

The Shiro is nice! I don't think they have classic BT stats for it yet. Just Dark Age. Nice paint job on the Hatamoto Ryu. I wish I could paint like that.

I have an affection for the Shiro. 4x LRM-10, an Ultra A/C, and a sword. What else could you possibly need? An energy weapon as backup for when you run out of ammo and your sword is buried to the hilt in the gyro of the assault mech behind you and decides it doesn't want to come out again. ;D Truely I love the Shiro as well. I managed to get two of them from the latest WK set when it came out. I got lucky and got quite a few of the uniques. Didn't get the ultra rare one though. The Shiro is only designed in about 3135 in the WK universe and if going by some of their other design is going to be chock full of level 3 equipment. For example the current Zeus's cost about 83,000,000 CBills each ! they go 5/8 and have XXL engines in them.
