Ha, Keith and I were just discussing that; you can count on me to chip in.
About the dossier thing, I think that it’s a great idea to have a little section added to the dossiers concerning the year leap. However, I think we need to still include the information about our characters prior to the leap—we shouldn’t be dependant on the old site for information about them.

Wow - thanks so much to all of you! I actually didn't think anyone would want to help out with this. I'm really indebted to you all! Keith (Saburo) brought up a very good point - the need for some form of "proof of sale" for this particular project, and I think it is a fantastic idea. For the moment, you can see the cost breakdown here, and when the board is purchased, those who contributed will receive a copy of the bill, as well as an e-mail receipt for their contribution, which will provide absolute peace of mind, showing that the donation did in fact go toward this cause. As to how something like this would be handled - ideally, I'd love to use PayPal, because it is one of the most secure tools available to those wishing to conduct business over the Internet - both for the 'seller' and the 'buyer' (although in this instance, we are technically all 'buyers,') and the paper trail it generates means that everyone can see exactly where their contribution went. If PayPal isn't convenient, there are many other methods available. Let me know what works best for everyone. Keith, I PM'd a response to you regarding this and a couple of other matters you had asked about. Thanks again, guys! I'm overwhelmed!

I agree that we need to keep the old info from the Dossiers as well, but I definately like the idea of getting to add the new info. I think it would probably be easiest if everyone simply copied / reposted their character's(s') original dossier from this site, over to the new site and then added in a little fluff to fill in the one year gap. Big question with that is, are we going to give a general layout of what happened during the year in order to allow everyone to have the same general idea, or implement some way of keeping everyone from going way off on their own, just cause with everyone writing their own idea of what happened during the year, things could get a little carried away and confusing. With regards to the new site, everything is looking awesome. The Invision Boards thing looks great, I looked into it a little bit and it looks like it will work perfectly, and much much better than here, mind you ProBoards is pretty good for a free site. Also I would like to contribute as well, through PayPal preferably (just I know how to use that thing more so than other methods), just let me know when and how much. Another issue that needs to be addressed with regards to donations is currency exchange. I'm assuming that the figures on the Invision site are in US dollars. Well I know for a fact that we don't all use US Dollars. I believe PayPal has the ability to automatically convert currencies, but just the same it needs to be addressed, as $70 US is currently about $82 Canadian. For ease of conversions you can use www.xe.com it allows conversion from nearly any currency to nearly any other currency and is always extremely up to date with the current markets. On another note with the new site, I noticed that on the Invision site it lists mySQL database drivers as being included with the software, to me that means that we will have access to an online database that is run directly from www.beagleactiveprobe.com, is this correct? If it is, I can start doing some research into SQL again (I have some good textbooks from College about programming in SQL) and, if everyone is still interested, I can see about integrating an economy program directly into the site using the previously mentioned SQL database. I can't guarantee anything as I never really did much work with SQL in school, just have a single textbook to go from, but I can see what I can do. If the SQL doesn't work out, we could still integrate an economy program more effectively than before through the use of a stand alone, or possibly web-based program. Just as a heads up though, a Web-Based program would be rather difficult for me to design and program simply because my personal computer is not able to connect to the internet at this time and that severely limits Visual Studio .NET's ability to design web programs, and thereby limiting my ability as well. Well let me know what you guys think, I'm glad everyone seems so supportive of this, can't wait to see how it turns out.

I'm sure you have thought of this Ben, but to put in my little two cents, was wondering if when we move finally if a notice of the move and a link would be displayed on the home page for the followers that arent members?

I think what needs to be begun (and I encourage it to take place in The Cantina) is a community discussion that will determine major events taking place with the Legionnaires throughout 3069. Once the general 'feel' for what the team has been doing for the past year has been figured out, we can establish a 'master timeline' if you will, and allow everyone to develop their characters' backgrounds from that point forward. I can go ahead and start the thread, leading in with major events taking place in the Inner Sphere circa 3069 - 3070 so that everyone has a common frame of reference to begin with. What do you think of this? I think Invision is going to be FAR better than what we are accustomed to here. From my test runs, the board is faster, has more features, and is much more flexible than what we've been working with here, although I do agree that for a free board, ProBoards isn't bad. It just isn't compatible with what we're trying to do here anymore. As to contributing via PayPal - whatever you wish to contribute, whenever you wish to contribute would be welcomed with open arms. My primary e-mail address, crownvic82@cox.net is currently set up to receive donations on PayPal. Bear in mind that I will be matching whatever people donate, and I will post exactly how much is in the fund and how far we have left to go. I think you just solved that 'issue'! Thanks! Whatever you think works best. I was actually hoping to recruit you for the entire setup. Let me know if this is something you're interested in, and I'll get you full access to the beagleactiveprobe.com server. Once the new site goes live, all posts on the public forums on this site will be locked, and a notification will be posted that directs readers to www.beagleactiveprobe.com. I don't plan on putting a redirect code in, as it would impede our ability to access this site for reference purposes.

I definately like the idea of the Cantina discussion, that would be the best way I think for everyone to be involved in determining what will happen during the year gap. As with everyone else, I have a few ideas of what I want my character to do/ have things happen to. A basic timeline of the major events throughout 3069-3070 (including any new 'mechs that may have been introduced) would be great if possible. On a somewhat downside, my BT knowledge cuts out at 3067 as far as 'mechs and TROs go. I can't find any information past that short of Dark Age stuff (which now I cant find either) and that is several years later after the Jihad is completely crushed and the whole demilitarization thing happened. Does anyone have links to info around the time frame of 3067-3075?
Once I figure out just how much I am able to contribute at this time I'll send you the donation through paypal, provided I remember how it works, lol I havent used it since I bought some pewter Mech Miniatures online nearly 2 years ago.
I would love to give you a hand with the whole setup process, but the problem is my internet access is so limited that I dont know how much help I would really be. Dial-up internet at home, combined with rather strict rules regarding use of the phone line really limits my access at home, and I'm not really suppose to be online at work very much, technically not at all, but we are allowed on a little bit for various things. If there is anything that needs to be done offline that can be uploaded or whatever, just let me know and I'll do whatever I can, but unfortunately I dont know how much of a help I can be for online stuff, although I'm still more than willing to do what I can. Let me know what you could use a hand with and I'll let you know how much I can help.
