Is there and option to disable the background music for those of us stuck with dial-up and can't download the music file within a reasonable amount of time?

Not currently. If you know of a work-around for this, let me know. It's currently set up as an embedded object.

Only work around that I know for it is to make the embedded object visible (turning on the controls or something) I can't remember exactly how to do that though. Basically what it does is, when setup to only display the controls, it will give you play and stop buttons, and a seek bar, they will look like the old Media Player 1 or 2 controls from Windows 98 SE. (They might actually be newer now, but last time I messed with this stuff thats what they looked like and yes XP was out then, but not SP2 or the newest IE)
Its not really a big deal provided its only a midi or something and not a .wav or even .mp3 file. Besides the music is the last thing it downloads, at least on the computer I use.

Kick ass music Ben. I was about to say... Ben... site music? Come on dude... But this is awesome, especially with the banner. It's also sweet when the banner animation lines up with the site.

Glad you enjoy it. It is just one of many tracks available for free over at Battletechmodproductions.com. DarkSPARCS has done a great job putting together a compilation that conveys the scope and atmosphere of the BattleTech universe.
