The Jade Stone Fortune
Myth: Jade Stone Fortune
Myth Type: Treasure
Creator of Myth: Unknown
Chance of reality?: Widely speculated, though it is thought to be ONLY a myth.
One of the most known myths within the Inner Sphere, the Jade Stone fortune is said to be THE treasure for any treasure hunter. The story of the Jade Stone fortune was started more than one hundred and fifty years ago. It is not known who first spoke the words about this spectacular treasure. Some believe it was the story was invented by space officials to capture pirates. Others believe it is just a story for children. However, some truly believe that the Jade Stone fortune IS real.
The story of the fortune goes along these lines:
Many hundreds of years ago, valuable treasures from around the universe, deemed too valuable for the rulers at that time, was concealed in a tomb on an unknown planet - a planet said to be shrouded in a mystical fog in space. The ancient secret organisation, known as “The Reach”, were watchers of the Inner Sphere (see book “Mythological Civilisations”) . There was no secret that they did not know, no rumour they had not heard. There was no hiding from these people, yet only a select group of people knew of this organisation. These people were a sub group know as “The Touch”. The Touch were the “hands” of The Reach, doing as they were ordered by their superiors. This organisation was said to be behind the start of many wars, created to insure the “balance“ of the Inner Sphere. They orchestrated many major events within their time and are said to have shaped the Inner Sphere into what it is today. All went smoothly till a man named T’su-nak Had-am came into the picture. T’su-nak, the head of The Touch, became paranoid with The Reach. He began to mistrust them. He grew to hate them. Secretly, T’su-nak began to collect treasures and weapons to overthrow The Reach. After years of resource gathering and the manipulation many key figures within The Touch, T’su-nak launched his attack against The Reach at the very heart of their base. However, Tsu’nak should have known his enemy. The Reach knew ever thing. No stone was unturned. They were prepared. As soon as Tsu-nak attacked The Reach’s headquarters, his forces were greeted with the immense army of The Reach. The entire war was named “The Single Hour War”. The Touch were massacred, cut down instantly by their enemy. Within an hour the battle was over, and only Tsu-nak stood among The Touch and so he was captured. However, Tsu-nak did not reach his end immediatly. Instead, he was left alive and held in respective regard. Tsu-nak was needed by The Reach. Within the years of his collecting while he was plotting, Tsu-nak had unknowingly came into possession of a weapon so powerful, it could mean the end of the entire universe. The Reach eventually found Tsu-nak’s assets and drew together a plan. His assets made Tsu-nak the most wealthiest and most dangerous man in the Inner Sphere. No one could be trusted, not even members of the secret organisation - Tsu-nak was evidence of this. A final drastic plan was created to ensure the safety of the Inner Sphere.
The Reach, with their infinite knowledge of universe they over saw, took Tsu-nak’s assets far into the depths of the Inner Sphere to a planet that was shrouded in a supernatural fog, that was unseen to the naked eye. There, they created a tomb to seal away the vast treasures Tsu-nak had accumulated and the weapon he had come into possession. Along with the treasure, Tsu-nak was sealed within the tomb and left for dead. The Reach took only one thing with them. A large emerald coloured crystal. They carved away at the rock to produce a key. This key would be the only thing that could unlock the tomb, intricately designed to only allow the holder of the key to unlock it. The key also held the coordinates to the very entrance of the tomb. The stone was called it “The Jade Map Stone”. They called the tomb and the treasure within “The Jade Stone Fortune”. After sealing the tomb and Tsu-nak’s fate, The Reach searched many planets within the Inner Sphere. They needed to find a planet that was quite, where the people were simple. The Reach eventually found a small planet, that held only one group of people. The people, though in their thousands, were quiet and dedicated themselves to a simplistic ideal. They were called “The Kintaru’s”. The Reach entrusted them with The Jade Map Stone and told them to protect it with their lives. The Reach knew that in time the Kintaru’s could decipher the stone and the secrets could be reviled. In their wisdom, The Reach moved to a neighbour planet and watched over the people. Should the Kintaru’s step out of line, The Reach would intervene.
After many years of observing, something amazing happened. The Reach discovered peace and tranquilly could be resolved without violence. Originally, The Reach had maintained the balance of the Inner Sphere by starting and ending wars. Through the cost of life, they could derive ultimate peace. However, as they observed the Kintaru’s they became to appreciate life. The simple people devoted THEIR ideals to life itself. Through the caring their crops, to the caring and honour the towns people had for each other. As time past, The Reach adopted this way of life and shed their old ways. They also removed their name and disappeared from space as many legends before them have done in the past. The unknown overseers of the Inner Sphere were gone… and no one knew they even existed.
This story is the traditional story that has been told for many years, though there have been many adaptations and different scenarios added. However, the basic story outline has stayed this same.
Is there any truth to the story? Did The Reach and The Touch exist? What of the treasure? And what of the Kintaru’s who were entrusted with the key to the treasure? As such, there hasn’t been any physical evidence to support any of this story. But who knows? Maybe the Jade Stone Fortune could be there somewhere, waiting to be discovered!
