As I'm sure by now you're all aware, with the launch of the new site will come an advance in the Legionnaires' storyline that will carry us to February of 3070. This thread has been created to initiate a community discussion that will determine major events taking place with the Legionnaires throughout 3069. In addition to establishing a general 'feel' for what the team has been doing for the past year, this discussion will allow everyone to develop their characters' backgrounds from that point forward. I have listed below all 'canon' major events taking place in the Inner Sphere circa 3069 - 3079 so that everyone has a common frame of reference to begin with. Let the discussion begin!
Major Historical Events - Inner Sphere - 3069 to 3070
ca. 3069 The Word of Blake's jihad reaches its peak. Few worlds are left untouched.
ca. 3070 Jade Davion born to Victor Steiner-Davion and Isis Marik.
3070 Shattering of Free Worlds League. Theodore Kurita dies. Hohiro Kurita becomes Coordinator.
3071-3081 Devlin Stone escapes from a Word of Blake Re-education Camp and slowly builds an army to push back against the Word of Blake. The battles are fierce, and Stone's forces win victory after victory. With each new success more warriors flock to his banner, speeding victory and final triumph. The honor and respect accorded Stone among the general populace across the Inner Sphere is unprecedented. With a new vision of how the Inner Sphere can rebuild itself-and a huge following of military and civilian personnel from every faction in the universe-Devlin Stone asks for and receives control over all worlds within a 120 light-year radius of Terra, whether by treaty or by force. Splinter groups within the Capellan Confederation reject the ceding of worlds to the Republic, and for several years engage in skirmishes aimed at retrieving ancestral planets. Peace otherwise begins its reign.
3071 Devlin Stone and David Lear escape from Word of Blake reeducation camp RBMU 105 on Kittery. They organize local resistance. [late] Stone's resistance group destroys Word of Blake forces on Kittery. Word begins to leak out about Stone's efforts against Word of Blake.
ca. 3072 Victor Steiner-Davion and Isis Marik have twin children.
3072 Devlin Stone begins liberating worlds near to Kittery from Word of Blake.
3073 [early] News of Devlin Stone's Kittery Prefecture reaches Inner Sphere leaders. [Oct] Devlin Stone travels to Tukayyid to meet with Victor Steiner-Davion. [late] Through Victor's efforts, Stone meets with other Inner Sphere leaders.
3074 Word of Blake launches an assault on Earthwerks, Ltd. BattleMech facility on Tikonov.
3075 Clan Ghost Bear's Ryoken II enters production.
3077 Draconis Combine and Clan Ghost Bear fight to drive Word of Blake off Dieron.

The Free Worlds League is shattered? I did not know that, any more info available???
Personally I have 2 things that I want to happen with my character during the time leap.
1) Wolf or the Legionnaires are given a Pheonix Hawk PXH-3D to replace the destroyed Vulture and as partial reward for the efforts on Sheratan. After an OP or two, Wolf modifies the Pheonix Hawk to mount a Gauss rifle (TRO available later)
2) Wolf acquires a BattleMaster chassis during an OP, and through extensive modifications turns it into an Omni 'mech (TRO available later) (its not really much of an omni, just the right arm and a couple ammo bins)

It was exposed that Thomas Marik was actually an imposter substituted by Com Star some thirty years before. This set off a dynastic crisis that resulted in the league splintering into several smaller fragments, each led by a claimant to the Marik throne. If I remember correctly, most of the Knights of the Inner Sphere were wiped out in a Word of Blake chemical attack.
One thing that does happen during the first year of the Jihad (according to the Dawn of the Jihad sourcebook) is a general backlash against mercenaries across the Inner Sphere. This is due to a couple of reasons. For one several mercenary units go rogue and attack the Wolf's Dragoons on Outreach before the Blakists nuke the world, killing Jaime Wolf in the process. Other merc units refuse to face the Word of Blake and back out of there contracts. This causes a feeling of hostilitiy towards mercenaries in general.
Perhaps what we do in 3069 could be related to this? We might aide Morgan Kell in his fight to restore the honor of mercenaries. I was also thinking we might get some trouble from the planetary government on Sheratan. You know...blaming us for the damage the planet received from the Blakist attack.
Those are just some random ideas.

Thanks for the info Garland, just skip the parts between the stars as it may refer to the two people you mentioned (not really sure) if you want to. It doesn't directly mention them, but I'm not sure if its related to them or not. ************** With regards to the mercenary backlash, I didnt realize that happened, especially the part about Mercenaries attacking Wolf's Dragoons, that could put a bit of a damper on our whole organization. Of course I dont think we'd have the problem of backing out of contracts or not wanting to face the Blakists, as we've already done several OPs against them. Hmmm actually that may work for us more than against us. If we are one of the few mercenary units that still are willing to face the Blakists, well I'd say we'd have a ton of contracts that no one else would be willing to do, and as such we could make quite a hefty profit from it . I kind of like the sounds of Sheratan politicians giving us heck for the damage done, after all we are mercenaries and everyone likes to push the blame on others... Perhaps I could rework my character's advancement so that he recieves the Pheonix Hawk from ComStar? rather than House Davion. Besides after some more thinking, Davion wouldn't likely reward us for something they may feel us to be the cause of, even if we helped fix the problem. Could you maybe tell me where I could get more info on Morgan Kell's fight to restore Mercenary honour? Or any of the information you guys have, where do you get those books from? *************** Thorn, what kind of character are you looking to develop? If you give a general idea of what type of character you'd like (such as a brawler, strategist, techy, etc. etc. that's just extremely broad) or how you see your character, is he quiet, and reserved, or loud and obnoxious, somewhere in between? Does he like combat (Really like combat [kinda like Saburo and mr. chingley]) or just does what is necessary. What type of 'mech does he prefer to pilot? A few details like that and I could give you some suggestions as to what could happen with your character to develop him during the year jump.

So far, FanPro has released a sourcebook called Dawn of the Jihad, which covers the first year of the Word of Blake invasion. It has a chapter devoted to what is happening in each Successor State as the Jihad unfolds. You can buy the book in PDF download format on www.battlecorps.com.

My character is sorta outcast maybe, since he is new to the group. He wants to be accepted but doesnt let that get in the way of his performance. He is very loyal and love to pilot 'Mechs. His favorite 'Mechs are the Heavy to Assault class 'Mechs with the occansional Medium 'Mech. He is extremely resourceful and works well both alone and with others. Thats sort of the basic jist of it.

Something that I'd like to see happen is a close tie develop between Charles Maxwell's organization (Crayven Securities) and the Legionnaires - I was thinking that perhaps the parent company (Crayven Corp) could be wiped out by the Blakists, leaving its subsidiary struggling to stay afloat in the aforementioned backlash. Perhaps the two could consolidate, or at the very least, join forces. Maybe Charles could buy the Sheratan government's favor, at least temporarily, while they're giving the Legionnaires grief.
Just a thought.

I don't have too much in mind really for Gen. Just doing my work, hating the clans, and so on. Gen's got a bit of a confidence problem right now, so maybe he'll change some of his methods. Oh, and since Gen was a former employee of the Crayven Corp, I will gladly volunteer him to be either a liason or merely an exchanged employee. I'd love to see what kind of top-quality stable of mechwarriors C. Securities has maintained.

I was thinking that maybe Major Antony Kelter would get all of the credit for defeating the Blakists on Sheratan and the Legionnaires would be blamed for the damage that happened to Gellen's Heights. Perhaps we would be evicted from Site 187 by the planetary government as punishment?
I like the idea of forging closer ties with Crayven Corporation as this could give us added support in a difficult time for mercs.
I was also thinking the Emma Mirado and most of her infantry platoon would leave the Sheratan Militia and join the Legionnaires. Perhaps she could form a new infantry company for us, including a battle armor platoon. That way we could have some more infantry support on future missions.

We do currently have a battle armor platoon - the Gladiators. They were featured very briefly in Operation: Phoenix Down (for more on them, search "gladiators" on this site).
I like the idea of being blamed for the damage and the subsequent eviction from Site 187. Perhaps the closer ties with Crayven could start to form with Charles' offer of a base of operations for the Legionnaires?
Speaking of which - when do we get the Liberty back?

I like the sounds of the Crayven Corporation and the Legionnaires growing closer, I'm not sure if a merger would necessarily be a good idea or not though. I personally would like to keep the Legionnaires as the "Legionnaires" and not a subsidary of another company or unit.
I like the idea of Charles "buying" the Sheratan government's favour, I have an idea that I think would work well for that, outlined in the MP threads, and in the 'Exodus' poll.
I dont think there would be a problem with Emma and her platoon joining the Legionnaires, we do have a BA platoon as Ben mentioned, but I think it would be great to integrate more infantry into the unit. Also perhaps we could involve the Battle Armour platoon a little more in upcoming missions.
What exactly is being down to the Liberty again, or is it secret?
Thorn,
I'd say that over the year your character would get more involved within the Legionnaires and no longer feel like an 'outcast'. I can see him being given a 'mech somewhere between 70 and 90 tons and playing the role of 'heavy hitter/brawler' on a lance. Personality wise your character doesn't really strike me as confrontational, he's not the type to sit back and take whatever shit is thrown at him, but I don't see him as being the type to go looking for a fight. That could wind up with him having a small grudge or tension with some more aggressive members of the unit. Although in a BattleMech he seems to be very aggressive and confrontational, basically the opposite. I dont know if thats how you see your character or anything, but thats kind of the feeling I get when reading your posts and stuff. If I'm wrong let me know, and I'll see if I can give some other suggestions that may fit better.

No man. That is like a perfect analogy of my character. Thanks for the help. I will work on some kind of story type thing. Speaking of which, Ben do you want us to put this sort of thing in the dossiers or what?
