For a heavy mech, my favorite is the good old Flashman, one of the most underrated mechs in all of CBT...
As far as lighter mechs go, how about some Black Hawk KUs or Black Jack Omnis? You can't argue with versatility. ^_^x

So, what does it look like the new mech for use will be? It looks like an about even match. Also, what class Dropship is the Thorin?

The most accurate way to describe the class of vessel that the Thorin falls into would be "old."
An Aerodyne DropShip by classification, I purchased the vessel at auction on Outreach some time ago, when it became clear that it was no longer cost effective for the Legionnaries to continue contracting out our transporation. When I found the vessel, it was in poor condition - having passed through the hands of many owners since it was built in the later part of the 2700s. After doing some research, I discovered it was a prototype, a member of a short-lived Liberty class that was abandoned in favor of heavier, more powerful designs.
In appearence, it most closely resembles the Graf Zeppelin built by Germany just prior to World War II. It isn't very well-armed - it has four Heavy Gauss rifles - two fore, two aft, an LAMS system, and four ER Large Laser turrets (two topside, two under). It can hold its own against most 'Mechs, but most contemporary DropShips seem to have have a hell of a lot more firepower than it does, and it wouldn't stand a chance against most Aerotech.
The vessel has a large 'Mech bay that is the centerpiece of its structure. It is capable of carrying up to ten 'Mechs at a time, and an array of support vehicles. It also has two small defense fighters that are docked on either side of the main deck, which runs along the underside of the vessel, which can be deployed to run off marauding aerotech fighters and small attack craft.
While in a planet's atmosphere, the Thorin employs six General Electric repulsorlift drives to keep it airborne, and its quad fusion drives provide the thrust needed to maneuver it in flight.

I think Activision did MW best.
Microsoft is good but I loved MW2 and its expansions and Mercs. Its the golden era for MW IMO.

I agree. I'm not sure why Activision lost the license. Might have had something to do with the downturn in their financial status.
Remember all the 'Mechs they put in Mercs 1? Anything you could have asked for was there!

I played just about every MW game save for Mechcommander 2, MW4 and it's add-ons. MW2 was the game that really got me into the series and I played tabletop after that. (though I played with the cardboard standup markers because it was cheaper lol.
Sadly, all I still have around is Mechcommander Gold which I'm going to be selling soon since I beat it again just recently and it didn't keep my attention that well. I might pickup MW4 from what I make off the game.
